His leaders have charged him with assisting the alpha of the wolf shifters in Stone Ridge, Colorado with communications between paranormals and the human government. Except, the one thing that would delay him happens…he discovers his beloved, his soul mate, on that plane. Now, Seb finds himself in Las Vegas, trailing the human Dirk Lemans. His attempts to woo the human are successful, until he makes one too many verbal slips, and he discovers a powerful truth. Dirk thinks Seb is a shifter…and not too long ago, shifters held him captive. Can Seb convince Dirk that not all paranormals are the same?

Sebastian Russo "Seb" while traveling on an airplane smells his Beloved during a regular flight. He walked the aisles from his first class seating even though he still finds flying commercial tedious and annoying. He found the gingerbread scent coming off of a geeky, shaggy red head, wearing baggy jeans, a band t-shirt, and worn sneakers. Dirk Lemans is on his way to a Comic-Con in Las Vegas and he has a terrible headache. Surprisingly a tall distinguished looking gentleman offers him aspirin. When he couldn't control a deep flush to his fair complexion at the attention of such a handsome stranger, the blood rising close to the surface sang to Seb confirming his Beloved was just inches away. And later defends him against a bully. A man so far out of Dirk's league all he can do is fantasize about him. He can't imagine why this man seems to be showing interest in him.Coming to the Comic-Con is a nightmare of sorts. Dirk doesn't like interacting with lots of people, but is required to as part of his obligations to his employer. One on one with other geeks interested in comics is fine, it's just more people seem more intimidating. He's lucky to be able to attend at all especially after a particular lying harrowing experience when something (a Dingo) claimed to be his mate, but instead used it as an opportunity to literally make a "Pet" out of Dirk. It wasn't used as a term of endearment. It was meant to denigrate. Meaning he and the other Human captives were nothing more than animals. Deserving of no niceties, but caged and held in a kennel as sex slaves by a rogue pack of New Orleans Dingoes. Human toys for sadistic pleasure and torture. Even though he escaped, Dirk remained traumatized and fearful, to add to already being socially awkward. This made it very hard to for him to trust others, in particular someone expressing interest in him.
Seb makes a huge mistake that sends his Beloved running for the hills. Dirk wonders why he is such a magnet for paranormals? Luckily he has a great best friend, Deke who jumps on the next flight when he calls for HELP! This was a fun read. Even when Dirk was terrified of the Vampire claiming to be another form of "mate". The bonding pull was so strong Dirk allowed Seb into his hotel. A lot of questions needed answering as well as a great deal of patience on Sebastian's part and a whole bunch of trust on Dirk's part. A great number of Vampire myths were debunked except the need to drink blood. Dirk learned that Shifters have Canines and Vampires have "sensitive" Fangs.
Finally some headway was made and Dirk has never been happier. Even when his skeptical and wary friends arrives, Dirk was in the first stages of falling in love. Seb was determined to spoil Dirk. Lots of subtle PADs: hand holding, arm around his waist, butterfly kisses. Amusement parks, roller coasters, comic books, dance games. Meals, birthday party, laughs and then abject terror.
New characters are introduced, both Humans and shifters: Chris, Byron, and deeply closeted Luther who likes Deke, but won't admit it. Being on the Vampire Council means traveling. Is that something shy, reclusive Dirk is capable of doing?
You're perfect just the way you are. Never in a million years would Dirk believe that if someone else except Seb told him. He's far from perfect. And how the Dingoes treated him made him realize that without any doubt. Because of his confession of torture and abuse, the Paranormal Councils were notified of a terrible pack of Dingoes that needed disciplining. Dirk was even able to give them some specific names.
I love that the two partners aren't these perfect specimens of male beauty. They each have flaws be they physical, emotional, mental. Sometimes its impatience, expressiveness, allowing a bond to oversee reason. Ms. Richards knows how to write a good story. I'm looking forward to the next book in which ever series.

Crashing the Comicon Wolves of Stone Ridge Book 21 edition by Charlie Richards Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
So cute! I absolutely loved this instalment to the series. I'm glad Charlie paid omage to the sci-fi nerdiness of her fans. It was great.
This is an awesome series! This book is does it proud. It is sexy without being overly pornographic and the storyline was excellent.
Richards writes another fun and interesting story. Comicon is the perfect setting for shifters, vamps, and other paranormals. As they say there is some truth in myths, so who knows what's walking around us.
What do you get when you mix Fate in with a geeky comic artist and the paranormal? Absolutely the perfect mix. I love this series and was so excited for this book. The characters as always were well written and the storyline moved along very quickly. You see some of the secondary characters from the series, which is always fun to see, and of course smokin' scenes with the heroes.
I liked Sebastian and Dirk together. They had cute moments. I wish we’d gotten more background, tho.
Also, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I didn’t care for the condescension towards the con-goers. It felt unnecessary.
Spoilers!!
Ok. I had a hard time with this book. I've liked most of the Stone Ridge books, but this one I have an issue with. I liked the basic story, Sebastian the vampire meets his human mate, Dirk. Drama ensues, we learn that Dirk has had issues with shifters in the past, and Sebastian helps deal with it. My issue is with the way his past comes back. Unless I missed something, a random guy on a plane that Dirk irritates some how gets in contact with, or is contacted by, the shifter that abused Dirk on the other side of the country, and some time in the past. I don't understand how this happened. I totally lost the story at that point.
I also don't understand why it's called THE Comicon. I've always heard it referred to as just Comicon. As in "I'm going to Comicon." Not "I'm going to the Comicon."
Anyway, not a bad story until the big huge plot issue.
Seb FINALLY meets his mate!!! This is a great addition to the Stone Ridge Wolves series, even though Seb isn't a wolf. There are appearances by 3 stone ridge wolves and a future couple is set up. Seb's human mate is just adorable, but I like geeks. Like all the other mates, he needs to be handled with care as he's been through some things that make him hesitant, distrustful and jumpy. But Seb wants his mate, so he's going to stop at nothing to get him man. This story has tenderness, fun, drama, angst and action. Plus, let's not forget the hot sex with the biting. My only issue, which mysteriously appeared in Second Chance to Mate, is a blank page between chapters. It looks like Ms. Richards put in an extra page break while writing and it didn't come out before publication. I recommend fixing this fast because I can see it becoming too annoying. Overall, Seb's story is written more like the first books in the series, and I love those, so it's a great addition to a, fundamentally, great series.
