Wow! Jackson Cole is the perfect, swooniest, alpha hero I’ve read in like, forever!Alexis is just trying to get through her days as she works two jobs to cover the cost of living after years of caring for a sick mother and helping to raise her sister. When Jack makes a move, she’s immediately drawn to him but knows he just wants one night, and that’s not her thing. At all.
Jack is pulled toward Alexis from the first moment he lays eyes on her. His desire becomes almost obsessive. Jack is accustomed to getting anything he puts his mind to but Alexis is making him work extra hard at getting her. And his mind is definitely set on having her. But as he continues to pursue the seemingly unattainable woman, he quickly realizes that he wants more than one night.
Together this couple ignited the pages of my Kindle! They were perfect for each other. Alexis has a few trust issues which were completely understandable due to Jack’s past. That past ensures there is a good bit of other woman drama here. However, Jack is all about Alexis and that never once changes. I loved watching Alexis grow to accept that what she had with him was the real thing. And I absolutely adored watching Jack fall and fall hard.
This is one of those reads that just checks all your boxes for what you want in a low angst, high steam romance with a likable heroine and most importantly the perfect possessive/protective and jealous hero. There are just no words for how incredible this couple are.
This is this author’s debut book and while the beginning does have a rough feel to it, it doesn’t take long before she hits her stride and this story takes off like a shot. I freaking loved it so hard! Hand raised to heaven, I vow this book is the perfect feel good read!

Alluring An Alluring Series Novel edition by Sarah Curtis Romance eBooks Reviews
Alluring is a standalone romance with a little bit of suspense thrown in to add some spice. First up, I want to say how much I love the cover! It is hot and I couldn’t move away from it.
Now, onto the main characters I liked them. I liked Alexis as the heroine. She was strong, resilient and she had been through a lot of life knocks. I liked that she didn’t complain and she just got on with it. Jack was also interesting, although I don’t think we got a deep look into his past as much. I mean, he took over his father’s business, but was that what he truly wanted to do? And what did that exactly mean? Other than him mentioning some meetings, it seemed low stress. What I did love was that they were both adults. They were open with their communication, and some easy to fall into drama was avoided by just having them talk. That was refreshing. Alexis’ trust issues were maybe a little drawn out, but given her past it wasn’t unexpected. I thought Jack was incredibly patient and forgiving with her. And the two of them together had great sexual chemistry. Those moments were definitely steamy. And I loved how Alexis kept calling out Jack throughout the entire story about his cheesy lines. That was a fun touch.
Slight spoiler here I liked the stalker aspect, but I didn’t like the resolution. The person it ended up being was so obvious that it was a huge disappointment when it was revealed. And the way Alexis was able to delay her was comical. I mean, there is a reason in movies that people scoff when the bad guy gives a huge speech instead of getting on with it. It felt like an easy out. And there were perhaps some holes in that whole storyline. How did that person know how to avoid the cameras when near the gym? And for that matter, why were there even blind spots? And when Alexis was almost run over in the garage, were there no cameras there either? And she has security with her everywhere except when walking alone to her car in a garage? Did they even look into who left the envelope at the front desk when no one could say how the letter was dropped off on the Sunday? I mean, surely a camera got that, right? And I feel like a billionaire could afford more than one PI who was clearly getting nowhere. Couldn’t he just stick one on every suspect for the entire time? It’s not like he would have missed the money.
Onto secondary characters I really liked Steph. I loved her friendship with Alexis and I am so grateful that wasn’t messed around with. I love reading about women supporting each other, and this friendship gave me the warm fuzzies inside. Jack’s friend Mason was another story. I liked him, I liked his banter and I liked how he enjoyed messing with Jack. You could feel a true connection between the two. What I didn’t love was how he spoke about women. When he called Jack up to get the number of Alexis, since he figured he would be done with her and Mason wanted a go, that didn’t exactly endear me to him. That was a pretty gross thing to do. And he was only sorry because he didn’t realize Jack actually liked her. So you can imagine the way that conversation likely would have went, and was insinuated that it probably did go in the past, if Jack wasn’t into Alexis.
I was also a little alarmed at the fact that Alexis being constantly harassed by men was somewhat normalized in this book. No didn’t mean no to these men, or to Jack for that matter. And in some ways it was sort of shrugged off as being what happens to women when they go out. Luckily for Alexis, she had Jack/security looking out for her for some of that, but most women don’t get that luxury. I’m not sure if it upsets me more that this book has it so normalized, that Alexis even rushes to tell Jack that she didn’t encourage the men, like it could ever be her fault, or that it likely is a normalized event in this world we live in. When a man says no it means no. When a woman says no, it means she’s open for negotiation. Her voice was not heard once to these men, and that grossed me out. There was no insight given to this. It was in there to be used as a way for Jack to feel jealous, but that was it. How can a woman feel safe, a woman want to put herself into situations where this apparently happens every time, and not feel some sort of apprehension of that? Not feel fear when a strange man comes up to her? When she was only just recently drugged and almost raped, but is happily ready to walk back into that club again so soon afterward? When it is explained about pushy men in the past for Alexis, it is said that usually she is forced to dance with these men just to appease them. That she has to take their number just so they will stop harassing her. These things is enough to make me want to avoid going out (which is what I do nowadays and why my 20’s were mild at best). Why did Alexis keep putting herself out there? What was her reasoning?
Final thoughts I did enjoy this book. I read it in one sitting and that tells me that I was hooked. I would recommend to romance readers who enjoy the trope of an alpha billionaire falling for the poor woman, who like things to get steamy, and want some suspense/mystery thrown in through the stalker storyline. This book finishes off neatly and is a standalone. Although some of the secondary characters do have their own books, this can be read alone with no issues.
Alluring is book one in the Alluring series by Sarah Curtis. Sarah is a new to me author and I am blown away. I loved this book!
Alexis Taft is a receptionist at a Mercedes-Benz dealership by day and a cocktail waitress at night at Allure, a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip. She needs every penny she earns to pay off her mother’s medical bills and to pay the college tuition for her little sister. Alexis was fifteen when her mother got sick. She spent years taking care of her and working to keep a roof over their heads. Now, with her mother gone, she was left with the bills. Alexis doesn’t date, she never has had time and as a result, at now twenty-three, she was a virgin with virtually no experience with men.
Jackson Cole is the owner of Allure. Jackson had a privileged upbringing with great parents. He works hard and has no interest in relationships. He enjoys a woman for one night only and they are aware of this before they spend any time with him. So no one could be more shocked than Jack himself at his reaction the first time he saw Alexis. He was having a beer in the bar in his hotel and he couldn’t take his eyes off her. And it angered him when he saw other men reacting the same way. He needed to get this woman out of his system but the problem was that she wasn’t the least bit interested in him. Night after night he was compelled to visit the bar and just watch her. Night after night she seemingly wanted nothing to do with him.
It was a grand-opening party for Allure’s new nightclub, Pulled and Alexis’s best friend Steph and convinced her that she needs a night out. Once again circumstances put Jack and Alexis together. Finally Jack is able to convince her to have dinner with him. This was finally Jack’s chance to find a way to convince this woman to let him into her life.
“This woman was doing something to him. He wasn’t sure what, yet. But he did know he wanted to be the one to protect her, always.”
“He might be unsure about the emotions tugging at his heart, but he knew one thing for certain, Alexis Rose Taft was now his.”
And so begins Alexis and Jack’s journey! Jack knows from the start that she’s the one. He’s never wanted a woman like he wants her. But Alexis is filled with uncertainty. She can’t understand why this man is the least bit interested in her. He’s everything and she believes herself to be plain and boring. She tries to keep her heart out of it because she’s convinced that there will be an expiration date to this. That Jack will soon tire of her and want to move on. But try as she might, the heart wants what it wants, and it seems to want Jack Cole.
“He was like a drug, and she couldn’t walk away. Didn’t want to walk away.”
As the feelings deepen between these two, there is someone out there that doesn’t want them together. That wants Alexis out of the picture. It seems that whoever this person is, they will stop at nothing to accomplish this.
I swear, I fell in love with Jack in this book. He was so obsessed with her. His jealousy and possessiveness confounded him. He’d never experienced these emotions before. And let me tell you, this man had ALL the words. The things he said!! I have to admit that there was one time when I didn’t like something he asked Alexis to do when he was angry but she willingly did it. I just felt like he was going too far. But there was no doubt that he loved this woman with all that he was and would do anything for her.
“You are it for me, Alexis. Do you understand what I’m saying? There is only you. There will only ever be you.”
There is no way I can put all the quotes I highlighted in this review. Just know that Jack will make you swoon. The sexy times are steamy hot! And the suspense was an unexpected surprise. This book had every one of my boxes checked and I loved it like crazy. The next book in the series is called Engaging. It is Jack’s close friend, Gage’s story. I can’t wait to read it.
“You are the breath I need to breathe. I live for you, Alexis. Without you, I am nothing.”
